charm and tranquility

Target Wood is a favourite retreat of mine, not just for the cool stillness that lies beneath the filtered sunlight, but for the burn and the falls that make up the heart of the wood. There is a tangible charm and tranquility that exists here and I'm never short of an excuse to visit.

This scene of the clear waters of Birkey Burn flowing beneath a quaint yet rustic wooden footbridge at the beginning of Autumn is one I've been longing to capture. Along with its companion piece 'The First Kiss of Autumn', I took this photo just prior to the sun dipping behind the brow of the hill behind. Serendipity shone again as it so often does in my photography as the sun cast dappled light onto the bridge and the turning leaves, bringing them into focus and filling the scene with charm. I couldn't really ask for more.
