Underbelly
a maelstrom of meteorological fury
mesmerising maelstrom
One of the most spectacular dances of air and moisture I've ever seen as the underbelly of the Thomas County supercell in Nebraska weaved a mesmerising spell of meteorological fury.

a pulse-pounding experience
Chasing storms can be heart-stopping, pulse-pounding fun. Never moreso than when you're looking into the belly of the beast watching the conflagration attempting to organise and coalesce into Nature's greatest arsenal.
As we stopped at a dirt siding just off the Dunning Road, watching as a herd of cows stood oblivious in the Sandhills pasture, the base of the storm came alive as all kinds of severe weather interactions tried to spin together as a whole. Filaments of cloud like ghostly wraiths span out this way and that as the RFD wrapped around and flung out great volumes of cloud. A truly mesmerising sight.
