LIGHTNING PHOTOGRAPHY

Lightning Collection

A gallery of my best lightning photography

There are many aspects of chasing and photographing storms but for me capturing lightning is one of the most mesmerising. Coming in many different forms, lightning can attest to the character and potency of its parent storm whilst also possessing a character of its own that is often influenced by and is a reflection of its location; the high desert plateau of New Mexico for example regularly discharges savage bolts that are extremely bright and colourful with many branches and forks.
Aside from the character and aesthetics of the bolt itself, a lightning strike also lends that extra dimension to the parent cloud by illuminating its structure, thus creating incredible mood and drama.
