Though the technical aspects of accomplished astro photography can often be a far deeper and more complicated discipline than landscape photography, I am necessarily drawn to it for the same reason I am drawn to photographing storms and severe weather; vast, sublime structures suspended in the sky. The Milky Way can be awe inspiring to view on a cold dark night and the northern lights have an additional magical quality to them as they shimmer and glisten high in the sky. Astro is most definitely not my forte but I can’t resist the spectacle of an astronomical event and the challenge of juxtaposing the ancient constructs of man with the timelessness of the universe.
